August 2026 - Education Event - Water Management Planning

This month’s topic is Water Management in Health Care settings. This discussion will concentrate on requirements for Water Management Plans and the

applicable ASHRAE and AAMI Standards and Guidelines covering water management for Health Care Facilities. ASHRAE Guidelines to be discussed

include Standard 188-2021 “Legionellosis Risk Management” to identify, analyze and control hazardous conditions related to Legionella and Standard 514-2023 “Risk Management for Building Water Systems” that covers a more holistic approach to waterborne pathogens (Pseudomonas and Mycobacteria), biofilm, chemical contaminants as well as physical risks like scalding. Also discussed will be ANSI AAMI Standard ST-108-2023 that established strict water quality requirements for cleaning, disinfection and sterilization of medical devices.
