Course Instructors:
Bill Thomas, PE, LEED AP BD+C, Principal, Branch Office Mgr
Bill has been with Heapy Engineering since graduating from The Ohio State University in 1996 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and is now a Principal and Heapy Engineering's Cleveland Branch Manager. His experience includes electrical design for power distribution, lighting, communications, controls, data, and alarm systems. His area of concentration has been the healthcare field while staying diversified with his involvement in secondary educational facilities, telecommunications facilities, correctional centers, water treatment facilities, office buildings and sports facilities. As a technical leader for Heapy in electrical design, he is also responsible for project management, design standard review and LEED administration for the Electrical Department.

Timothy M. Krzywicki, PE, CCP, CPMP, LEED AP, Project Manager
Tim joined Heapy Engineering as a Project Manager for the Cleveland Branch Office. He brings with him over 11 years of experience in multi-discipline engineering. As a mechanical engineer he has been involved in hundreds of projects providing professional design services for HVAC and plumbing engineering, as well as sustainable duties such as LEED program management, energy modeling, life cycle cost analysis and green building grant assistance. Tim's commissioning process experience ranges from the development of the owner's project requirements to the creation of the final commissioning report, including training procedures and implementation of functional testing. A few of Tim's project management responsibilities include the development of project scope, fee and schedule, quality oversight, bidding meetings and site observation.

Course Description:
  • Via the use of Case Studies, this seminar will provide a Design Professionals insider's perspective where administrators and Clinicians can positively impact the Sustainability of a new building or renovation project.

Learning Objectives:
  • Attendees will realize why more interaction with the design team to influence the integration of sustainable strategies is critical to creating successful project outcomes.
  • Attendees will recognize through lessons learned from actual project case studies what sustainable strategies can and should be considered for their projects that impact not only building systems but staff and patients as well.
  • Attendees will be able to identify vital sustainable strategies that should be considered for their projects
  • Attendees will gain insight into the complex matrix of project decisions regarding engineering systems design and where their involvement providing a clinical perspective will ultimately positively affect patient outcomes and project sustainability.
